What is POEA?
POEA, or the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, is a government agency that protects Overseas Filipino Workers’ (OFWs) rights. It is now known as the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), protecting OFWs while working overseas.
Moreover, DMW monitors employment agencies to improve the services provided to OFWs. The agency also ensures that agencies comply with Philippine government rules and regulations. With that said, DMW requires all overseas applicants to register and sign up for an account through their online portal.
What is POEA eReg Portal?
The POEA e-Reg Portal or DMW eRegistration is an online system that collects information on all OFWs, from aspiring workers to land-based workers and seafarers. This portal is for all Filipinos who aspire to work overseas and those already working abroad.
The purpose of this portal is to gather information by requiring OFWs to set up a DMW eRegistration account. Once registered, applicants will obtain a registration number. Then, their profile makes it easier to acquire a job since employers can assess their qualifications online.
Aside from the eRegistration section, the portal has other purposes, including the DMW Helpdesk, Online Jobfair, and Appointment sections. Through the DMW eRegistration Portal, OFWs can also check job vacancies abroad, pay processing fees, and request for Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC).
In short, the DMW eRegistratiion Portal is an online account required for OFWs whenever working abroad, similar to a resume. It’s also the most convenient and safest way for aspiring OFWs to obtain overseas employment since it offers job openings from POEA-licensed recruitment agencies.
