Overview

The OWWA membership is important insurance attached to your employment contract which you must acquire before signing the same. OWWA membership is proof that you are part of the OFW community, thus entitled to OWWA benefits and programs.

The membership is valid every 2 years and the cost is only equivalent to USD 25. There are many benefits to the OWWA membership. For instance, you can avail of loans for emergency purposes, support your children with scholarship grants if they are studying in universities or colleges in the Philippines, etc.

Requirements

OFWs based in Singapore who is not yet an OWWA member, or has a membership that will soon expire, can apply or renew their OWWA membership by submitting the following requirements listed below, including:

2. Original passport

3. 2 copies of passport (showing the data page)

4. Valid Work Pass (Work Permit Card, Employment Pass, S-Pass)

5. Visa exceeding 90-day validity

6. Original and 2 copies of verified employment contract, or other proof of employment such as:

  • Latest payslip
  • Certificate of Employment
  • Company ID
  • Re-entry Permit
  • Letter of Consent from MOM
  • Proof of employer’s identity for Household Service Workers (HSWs)

7. OWWA Membership fee of SG$36 (for new or renewal)

Qualifications

Since OWWA aims to provide programs and services to OFWs, it is a must to be a part of the institution. However, OWWA’s top qualification is that an OFW should be a “legal” or “documented” worker under POEA and have a valid work permit and visa. In addition, OFWs who have obtained permanent residency status in the host country and are still Filipino citizens can become OWWA members.

Nonetheless, considering that the institution requires members to be actively and continuously working, the following individuals are not qualified to apply or renew their OWWA membership, including employees:

  • Due for termination
  • Terminated
  • Due for cancellation
  • Canceled

Moreover, other fees needed to proceed with the OWWA membership application including, the Contract Verification fee, Authentication fee, and OEC fee, can be paid throughout the process.

To apply or renew your OWWA membership, follow the steps below.

  3. Once your number is called, go to Windows 1A and 1B.

Note: Once the OWWA membership fee has been paid OFWs without Contract Verification and Authentication will proceed to Windows 2A and 2B. Lastly, submit all the documents and pay for the OEC fee of SG$3 at Window 4.

  • Make sure to bring complete requirements and duly accomplished forms. Given that applicants submitting incomplete requirements will not be processed by the officer in charge.
