Qualifications
The OEC is issued to OFWs ensuring they have acquired legal employment abroad and documented under POEA’s database. In addition, OEC makes sure that OFWs receive protection from the Philippine government and can access necessary benefits. On the other hand, POEA only allows the issuance of OEC to qualified workers, including:
- OFWs who acquired work from an overseas Employer or Sponsor via direct hiring
- OFWs hired via a recruitment agency
- OFWs hired via POEA’s Government Placement Branch (GBP)
Also, OFWs considered domestic workers or skilled professional workers are qualified to apply and secure OEC to fulfill their employment contracts in Oman. Thus, qualified workers should secure an OEC if going for a short vacation in the Philippines and returning to Oman to work.
