An OEC is an essential document to OFWs, be it their first time to work abroad or returning to their job site overseas, since OEC is a pass required when leaving the Philippine airport for work reasons. In this article, we’ve created an in-depth guide on how OFWs can apply for OEC in POLO Malaysia, so keep reading.

Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC) is an exit clearance from the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), or the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) used to confirm that the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) have obtained legal employment abroad and went through proper documentation.

In addition, OFWs should present their OEC to immigration officers before leaving the Philippine airport to work overseas. This document also ensures that workers can access government protection, assistance, and benefits, such as travel tax and terminal fees exemption. Moreover, the spouses and dependents of OFWs with OEC can enjoy reduced travel tax. Thus, OFWs in Malaysia are encouraged to get their OEC if exiting the Philippine airport to return to their job site.
